Lena Marie Gomez (born July 22, 1992) is an actress and singer best known for playing Alex Russo on the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place. Gomez, an only child, was born in Grand Prairie, Texas. His father, Ricardo Gomez, is native to Mexico and his mother, Mandy Teefey, is half Italian descent.She was the name of the Tejano singer Selena and was reunited with his family. Her mother is an earlier stage actress.Gomez began her acting career at the age of seven years, where he spent his birthday at an open call casting competition with thousands of people for a role in successful television series for children Barney Friends.
